You want a Playstation 3. I know what you are probably thinking. You are thinking that you have played an Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii, and that the 360 has a wider selection of games, and the Wii is a lot of fun to play with friends. You are also probably thinking that the $300 price tag of the PS3 is outrageous and makes the system not worth getting. Well, my friend, that is why good old Mr. Geek is here to show you the foolish error of your ways and why a PS3 is soon to be your new entertaining best friend who does not eat all of the potato chips.
The first and most important feature of the PS3 is obviously the gaming capabilities. Sure, the 360 has a good selection of games, but it also has that little red ring of death. Sure, Microsoft claims that they have fixed that problem, but a company that many think knowingly released faulty hardware only to have gamers spend even more money to buy the version that finally works is not exactly who I would trust with my entertainment. The PS3 is also the powerful system of the three major consoles out there. The Wii was fun and all, but now the concept of the controller has lost its novelty and there are very few worthwhile games coming out nowadays. The PS3 is also a place where you can pick up classic PS1 games through the Playstation Store, and rumor has it that soon a lot of the PS2 games are going to be released on there too.
Reason number two you want a PS3 has nothing to do with video games is simple: Bluray. Bluray is the future of home entertainment. Bluray offers crisp and clear image resolution and sound quality that has never before been seen in home entertainment. The image quality is nearly perfect, and if you are a film fan and a gamer, you are cheating yourself out of a great experience. And besides, when the DVD eventually does become obsolete, which it will, you do not want to be left behind.
Look, admittedly the PS3 got off to a rocky start. The sales were lousy, and many worried that it could be the end of the system. But all of that money that had been spent to add in Bluray and wireless internet, and make it the most powerful console out there is paying off. It is currently the second most popular console now that the charm of the Wii is starting to wear off and many Xbox fans have bought the PS3 to avoid the red ring of death. The PS3 may or may not become the number one console, but that does not change the fact that it is the BEST console.
