Released in the year 1993, Doom Video games are identified as making the perspective of first person shooter genre in video games widely popular. This video game had such an effect on the video gaming industry that all first person shooter games released after Doom were commonly recognized as Doom Clones. Immersive 3D graphics and networked multiplayer gaming are very effectively integrated into this game which resulted in providing a very interesting and exciting video gaming experience.
This video game is designed by John Romero who has not given any name to the main character in the game as he argues that the player should visualize himself as the main character in order to get fully involved in the game. Within two years of the release of Doom video game, it became so popular that it was played by more than ten million people in different countries. It also gained the best game title in the year 2004.
Its wide popularity and increasing demand prompted its manufacturer to release many updated and new versions of the game such as the ultimate Doom, Doom II, Hell on earth, Final Doom etc. Initially, the game was designed for PC/Dos supported environment but now it can be played in most of the platforms in computer technology.
Playing the game Doom - The main plot of the game is based on science fiction or horror theme. The game`s manual contains the background story and as the game progresses, the rest of the story is displayed with short messages in between each section of the game. Some visual cues are also given as the main character of the game progresses from one level to another. The main idea of the game is finding the door through which you can progress or move to the next level.
In the bid to find the hidden door, you as the man character or hero of the game have to fight fierce battles with monsters and have to escape from attacks of the enemies who are bent upon killing you. The person playing the game is considered to be the main protagonist and the game is played through his impulse only. The player is considered as the hero of the game which makes the game more exciting and fun.
The Doom Video game involves locating the remote device or the skull shaped key for opening the elusive door. There are so many secret power ups in the playing area in form of labyrinths which help you in reaching new heights in the game. You can navigate from one level to another with the help of a auto map. You can also gather lots of arsenal and weapons which are made available for you such as a shotgun, chain saw, plasma rifle and a rocket launcher.
You start the game with brass knuckles and a pistol and start earning these powerful arsenals as you cross from one level to another. The power ups helps in avoiding the attack of the enemy upon you. It also helps you carry more ammunition, armor, first aid kit etc. There are also some supernatural blue orbs called soul spheres which when earned increase your life from 100% to about 200%.
To start the game you are also given an option to choose amongst the difficulty level. Depending upon the difficulty level you have selected, you have to face the number of monsters that attack you. The monsters attack you in different forms and hurl fireballs at you. The Doom Video game is a great pleasure to play and you can play this all by yourself or with your friends on a network.
