Lighting in homes can be a huge energy waster if not used frugally. The electricity we receive is basically from petroleum power plants, which is not eco friendly and causes emission of greenhouse gases. Hence, it is important to bear in mind that energy-efficient sources of energy be adopted so that it is not only cheaper but is also safe for the environment.

Bringing down electricity bills is possible if the right alternatives are chosen by adopting the right lighting in your homes. Energy efficient alternatives will bring down the electricity bills considerably.
When it comes to electricity prices, they are always showing an upward trend. The gas and oil market are unpredictable and this leads to fluctuation in the electricity prices. We have used natural resources left, right and center and thus oil and gas are becoming a rarity which has led to the steep in the prices of electricity.

Month after month we have to face high electricity bills, thanks to the increasing prices of gas and oil. There are a variety of methods that can be adopted to lighten the burden of utility bills. First and foremost, bringing about changes in the lighting techniques in home would help in bringing down the electricity bill significantly. This means more monthly savings. Replace standard light bulbs, which consume more electricity, with energy saving bulbs. These tips would help you efficiently save power and electricity and would definitely bring down your power bill in the long run. Similarly the energy saving bulb utilises only twenty per cent of power as compared to the normal bulb.

This means we are saving eighty per cent just on light alone. Energy saving bulbs also last long as compared to the normal light bulbs and saves us from frequent changing of bulbs. Incandescent light bulbs may be cheaper as compared to fluorescent bulbs but they would not help in bringing down your electricity bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs are also long lasting.

The energy saving bulbs is also quite economical since they would last longer and would also cut down your electricity bill. Choose light fittings which have minimal lights. If any of the rooms require brighter lighting, chose a bulb which is brighter as against fitting many bulbs. Lesser the number of bulbs, lesser would be your electricity bill and vice versa.

The ideal method of saving energy and cutting down on electricity bills is to put off the lights, fans when not in use. Make use of natural light when it is really bright. Place your desk close to the window for natural light so that you do not have to put on the light bulb during day time. Natural light is gentle on our eyes as compared to artificial light and natural light is free of cost. Summer is the time when we have maximum natural light, so we are less dependant on light bulbs and tube lights. Last but not the least; ensure to put off all the switches when not in use or before retiring to your room.

Finally, adopting energy saving devices would help in bringing down the electricity prices. Adopting eco friendly light products would help in saving the environment and also help you save considerable money.
