ACN opened in 1993 and has developed into the planet's largest direct selling telecom company. Their product line ranges from video phone and wireless service long distance and home security. Their best known product is the ACN video phone that allows users to connect via video and voice communication.

ACN has joined on the home business bus. They rely on the network marketing model to promote and sell their products. Their style to marketing their products is through a downline of representatives who sell the products by sharing them with people they know such as family members, friends, co-workers and other people they have contact with.

This form of marketing has moved ACN to the top of the list in their market. Since 1949 network marketing or multi-level marketing has been a popular way for many companies to move all kinds of different products. It seems today that anything and everything is being sold through MLM.

ACN's growth is tremendous but I have a bone to pick with them. With all of the state-of-the-art technology such as the video phone and the other high tech gadgets and service they offer you would think that they would embrace the same kind of technology in their marketing.

First I should state that I am a professional network marketer and I use current marketing practices such as the internet to grow my business. As I mentioned, ACN utilizes the multi-level marketing style but teaches their reps old school selling techniques. What most people fail to recognize is the old silly idea of chasing your friends and family and making a warm list is already a thing of the past and has already become an out dated way in building a huge team of reps. This is why 97% of the people who join MLM fail to make any real money.

I'll paint picture for you. Think for a moment about a business. How about a pizza shop? Suppose you owned a pizza store and you invited every one of your friends and your family to come out and purchase a pizza every couple of weeks. That might sound great but what about the days when your friends and family don't want pizza? If they don't come in these days then there won't be many sales. The point I'm trying to make is you need more than friends to build a business. In fact you need a steady flow of customers every day to grow any business that relies on retailing products.

This idea also works with network marketing. ACN teaches you to make a warm list of everyone you know and then invite them to a business meeting where they will be presented with an ACN phone overview and a presentation on the compensation plan. This might work for a short time but what happens when you run out of people to talk to? Your organization starts to break down because of a lack of contacts. There are not many people that are connected with enough people to keep their business afloat for a long period of time. You must do marketing if you wish to keep your business growing and you need a fresh supply of leads every day.

One of the least expensive ways to advertise a business is to advertise on the web. Look around and you will see that most businesses are using the internet in some way to explode sales. The odd and amazing thing about ACN is they discourage their downline from harnessing the power of the internet to build their business. I know this first hand because I have conversed with many ACN reps who told me that their upline told them that using the internet to find leads was a waste of time. This is completely untrue. Distributors on my team have so many leads that there is not enough time in the day to call them all.

You would think that a company like ACN that has a high tech video phone would consider using current technology to grow their business. What they would rather do is promote an old style, ineffective marketing technique from the 90's and gloss over the fact that 97% of their reps are having zero success. So I raise the question, "Why not teach your reps how to market so they will find true success and build a successful team?" I suspect that the top guys at ACN don't recognize how to manipulate the internet and are afraid of it.

I shouldn't pick on ACN because this is an industry wide problem. Most MLM companies do not teach marketing. If you think chasing your friends and family is marketing then you are dead wrong. If you have a sound marketing program you won't have to worry about leads because the incoming calls will light up your phone. This style of building your business is not mentioned in the MLM world. It's about time for the old dinasours in this business to either learn some new marketing techniques or hang up trying to teach their downline ineffective ways to make money.

I teach people the right way to market their business online and have found that this is the best way to generate a flow of prospects that will allow you to build a huge business over time. Visit the links below for supplementary information on my marketing strategies and how you can use the power of the web and literally grow your opportunity on auto-pilot. This will work for ACN or any other network marketing business you decide to build.
