Farming is another industry that uses vacuum pumps all the time. They use them in order to move water uphill to the crops that need to be watered. It pumps that water through those long pipes that have sprinklers on them. It also powers the big apparatus to move along in the field as it is working.
Another prime example of a small version of this kind of pump is in the simple water pump that you may use to clean out a flooded basement. When, a basement floods, the water in the basement needs to be pumped out of the home. In order for this to happen, the water has to be sent uphill to make it outside. This is only possible because of the invention of the vacuum pump.
