Smiling is something that has culturally become a sign of happiness or content. Smiles have become a huge part of our culture.

This may seem odd, but smiling is something that we should be doing every day. Hopefully you do not have to think about smiling, hopefully it comes naturally.

Smiling can be hard for some people. If smiling is hard for you to do you should work on developing this habit.

If you are able to develop this habit you will find that you will become happier and possibly even more content. Smiling can have these effects on people.

For some, smiling is something that is unnecessary and ridiculous. Although this is a very strong view and extreme example, there are some people that do not enjoy smiling.

If you are one of the people that feel content not smiling, more power to you. For many people not being able to consistently smile can be frustrating or even depressing.

If you are looking to make an effort to smile more there are a few things you should take into consideration. By understanding little more about yourself and about society you may be able to start smiling much more often.

First, you should be okay with smiling insincerely at fist. Making the extra effort to smile even though you do not feel like it will help you eventually be able to smile sincerely.

If you practice your smile you may be much more comfortable smiling in front of people. This may sound strange but it is something that many people have to do.

Go into your bedroom or a bathroom and shut the door. If you are worried about someone walking in make sure that you lock the door.

After you have done this find a mirror stand in front of it and smile. You can try different types of smiles or you can just hold one smile.

By trying your smiles out in the mirror you will know what they look like when you cannot see yourself. After you have found a smile that you are happy with you should practice smiling in that manner many times.

The repetition will enable you to know that you can consistently show that smile without being worried about the unknown. Once you have decided which smile fits you the best practice holding that smile for more than just a few seconds.

If this process just makes you more frustrated you may want to try to understand what it is about your smile that you do not like. For some, it is simply the fact that their teeth are yellow or crooked.

If you have found that you are not proud of your smile or you are avoiding smiling because of aesthetic reasons, you should look into getting help. There are a lot of dentists that specialize in smile reformations.

This may sound foreboding or scary, but if you can have a procedure done that will help you be proud of your smile rather than keeping it hidden it will be well worth it. You should not allow yourself to keep your smile hidden.

There have been multiple scientific studies that have shown there is a strong correlation between laughing and smiling and the quality of life of an individual. The more you laugh and smile the higher quality of life you will have on average.

This does not mean that just because you start to laugh and smile you will all the sudden become wealthy and /or famous. Instead the correlation means that those who are laughing and smiling more are better equipped to deal with the stresses and ailments of everyday life.

You should consider these facts as you are deciding whether or not you want to have surgery done on your mouth. If you are having fears about the surgery and you let those fears govern your choices you may look back later and regret not having the surgery done.

If you are interested in a surgery you should counsel with a professional. The professional will help you understand exactly what will happen.

For some a smile transformation may just consist of teeth whitening, for others the process may be much more intense. There may even be a possibility of needing jaw surgery.

Take the time to research and understand your options before you rush into any procedure. You should know exactly what you want out of the procedure and what you want your teeth to look like in the long run so you will finally feel comfortable smiling.
