Ink can be a very expensive and frequent purchase for most office printer users but there are ways to get a little bit more out of your cartridges. There are lots of choices when deciding the kind of printer to purchase and what options are useful, but nearly everyone will always site the cost of printer ink as the most important.
The easiest method and perhaps the most sensible is to print only when needed. Try to cut out excessive printing and decide beforehand just how important it is to have a printed copy. If you do have to print something, make sure that you have proofread the document fully as errors later will only mean more re-prints.
Most homes that have a computer also have a printer. The most common form of printer is the Inkjet which uses a combination of either black, black & colour or colour cartridges to form an image.
Fonts can also play a major part in the consumption of ink by your printers. The larger the font the more ink you are going to use. It is a good idea to try to limit the use of capital letters or "bold" text as over use will soon eat up your ink supplies very quickly.
Similarly to the savings offered by altering your font size you can opt to print numerous pages on a single page. If the document will only be for your own use then you can choose to alter all your setting to low quality or small font sizes.
A really big saving can come from disabling or removing unnecessary images from your documents. Many documents contain lots of images that although look nice on the page may not actually help with conveying your message. Cut them out and save your ink.
If you have a colour printer it is a good idea to alter your settings to default print in black and white, thus saving the more expensive coloured ink.
