A smile is worth a thousand words. You want to make sure that you take the time to keep your smile well kept so that the thousand words it speaks are positive words.

To keep your teeth and your smile up takes some time and some patience. Especially if you have not kept your mouth up in the past you are going to have to make up for some lost time and compensate for the damage that has been done.

First, if you smoke cigarettes or any other type of nicotine you should stop immediately. Although it may be very difficult because of the physical addiction you have required, you have to take a step back and look at what it can do to your mouth.

When you smoke cigarettes you are going to be yellowing your teeth and creating wrinkles around your mouth. The yellow stains come from the smoke that is constantly filling your mouth and the wrinkles come from the constant pursing of lips.

Those people that chew tobacco will also have to deal with the quick deterioration of their mouth. These products can give you cancer inside of your mouth and when you are trying to get rid of this cancer you can lose whole parts of your lips and mouth.

If you do not want to deal the repercussions of these drugs, do not start them to begin with. You have to make sure that whatever you are putting in your body is not going to hurt your teeth in anyway shape or form.

This means, that you will also need to stop drinking sodas. The dark sodas are especially bad for your teeth because they can take a perfectly white and health tooth and have it on its way to the dentist in no time.

Cavities and yellowing are very common side affects that come with drinking the soda. The acid in these drink are so strong that they can strip your teeth of their natural protecting chemicals, which are called enamel.

Without these chemicals sitting securely on your teeth you will be up a creek without a paddle. You have to make sure that you understand how important it is to eat in a healthy manner that will build strong and powerful teeth.

If you do quit any one of these habits but your teeth have already been yellowed, you can look into bleaching them. You can either go to a professional and have him or her bleach your teeth or you can try an at home whitening kit.

There are plenty of companies that sell at home whitening kits because they realize so many people want to keep their teeth white. Doing it from home is much cheaper than going to a professional office to have your teeth bleached.

After you have found the best way to get your teeth back to white color, you should make sure that you do not let them get to that point again. Brushing and flossing your teeth every night is something that you should never forget to do.

Before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning you want to make sure that your teeth are cleaned. You do not want your food that you have eaten throughout the day to end up rotting in between your teeth.

If you are not brushing and flossing you will end up with bad breath that could be socially crippling. Make sure that you take the time to avoid getting any bad breath like this and stick to brushing and flossing everyday.

Although you are supposed to floss only once a day, you have to make sure that you get it done. The floss that you use between your teeth will help you get all of the microorganisms out of your teeth before you go to bed.

These little pieces of material can come from food you have eaten that day or even from the air that you are breathing. There are a lot of people that say their teeth are cleaner when they are in a clean environment.

No matter what environment you are in or what you are eating flossing also helps keep your gums healthy. It is necessary that you take the time to keep your gums healthy especially as you get older.

The method for taking care of your teeth does not matter. Just make sure that you keep them healthy and alive so that your mouth portrays good things about you.
