San Diego has to be one of the most beautiful places to visit and travel for a family or personal vacation. There are miles upon miles of sandy beaches, and the temperature does not reach above 70 degrees for most of the year. Downtown San Diego also has quite a special offering of hotels to stay in, restaurants to indulge your senses, and local attractions to enjoy. With the close proximity of Coronado, Balboa Park, PETCO park, the exciting Gaslamp District, and even the Mexican border for a quick getaway, downtown San Diego hotels offer the best of centralized accommodations to be near all the action. The only decision you will have to make is where to stay to fully enjoy your trip to this exciting city.

While there are many four star hotels to select in the downtown area, all of which offer luxurious and convenient amenities for either the family traveler or business traveler, many have slightly different themes or locations in the downtown area which may sway your decision. The following offers a brief description of four of the hotels you can choose from.

Manchester Grand Hyatt. This hotel boasts a beautiful waterfront location with luxurious amenities the entire family will enjoy. With sweeping panoramic views of the Bay from many locations of the hotel, including the pool area and many of the rooms, you can also enjoy your time at the tennis courts or at the relaxing Kin Spa. The Hyatt is also just a few minutes from the enjoyable Seaport Village, cruises on the bay, restaurants and exciting night life, and the Gaslamp district. Attractions such as Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and Seaworld are a very short drive.

The Omni Hotel. This four star hotel is very close to the Gaslamp District, across the street from the Convention Center, and has its own bridged walkway to PETCO Park where you can take in a Padres game. With breathtaking views of the bay, downtown, and the baseball stadium, the Omni Hotel offers fantastic high class accommodations including top gourmet restaurants and an inviting outdoor terrace complete with fireplaces, a heated pool and hot tub.

Double Tree. A relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the City, the Double Tree offers newly renovated rooms which offer a light and serene environment. Most standard rooms have private balconies which overlook either the harbor or downtown which is perfect for relaxing afternoons or romantic evenings. Special amenities for the business traveler include spacious work desks, multiple phone lines, special work chairs, high speed internet, and coffee.

Hard Rock Hotel. Last but not least, for those looking for a touch of extra excitement in their stay, the Hard Rock Hotel offers a combination of Four-Diamond Service as well as amenities to complete the rock and roll experience. The hotel is located at the beginning of the Gaslamp District, so all the clubs, restaurants, and shows are within walking distance. The Hard Rock Hotel offers an environment of passion, excitement, and just plain pure rock and roll.

Whether business or pleasure brings you to the City, check out these and other downtown San Diego hotels to make the most of your stay.
