This is what most jackets, vests and blankets are made of. This weight will keep you warm in cold conditions.
Fleece blankets are so popular because they are soft, comfortable, retains heat and lightweight. They can be easily carried on a trip or stored away in a closet. While the fleece blanket is not the most technologically advanced product its price cannot be beat.
