The heating bills during the winter can be horrendous during the winter. However, fixing that problem is not as simple as turning of the heater.

Staying warm during the winter is critical to the survival and health of you and your family. There are, however, many ways to lower your heating bill with no negative effects to the family.

The first thing you will want to consider doing is turning the heater off whenever no one is at home. This can save you a lot of energy use and expense if you are gone for long periods of the day.

If you keep forgetting to turn of the heater you may want to leave a note for yourself by the door. The amount you save in heating expense will be well worth the tacky note by the door.

Another thing you may want to consider doing is layering up. Instead of turning up the heat, put on more layers of clothing and wrap up in blankets.

Even if you do not have comfortable or classy extra layers to add, investing in them can save you a lot of money on your heating bill. The small cost of buying more blankets and clothing will be greatly outweighed by how much you save on heating your home.

The third thing you will want to consider doing is using the hot water to warm yourself up. Hot showers are very nice during the winter.

However, all too soon you will run out of hot water and you will need to wait for the water to heat up again. Instead, you can fill up a few water bottles with hot water and stick them in your bed.

These water bottles can make a huge difference between a very cold night and a comfortable one. In addition, it takes much less energy and expensive to heat the water.

You will have no risk to yourself getting burned by the water as long as you do not open the top and pour it on yourself. These bottles are very nice to put your feet against in the winter.

Another thing you will want to consider doing is letting the sun in. The sun produces a lot of energy that can a lot of heat to your home.

The sun can warm your home even during the winter. Simply open the blinds to let the sun in.

Sometimes the windows act a magnifying glass and they warm up the room even more. This can make a tremendous difference in your heating bill.

Another thing you may want to consider is using biomass fuels to heat the house instead of a normal electric heater. Many homes have decorative fireplaces that are not used even though they could be.

Often, you can get firewood for free as long as you are willing to go and pick it up. This way the cost of heating your home is free.

Fireplaces are also a lot of fun for the family. They not only provide warmth, but they are very comforting to watch.

The flames can bring a peace into the home as the family gathers around it. Small children also love to cook smores on the fireplace.

In a power outage or in the case of a broken stove, you will also be able to heat dinner on it. This backup heater is much more affordable and has many more benefits than a normal heater.

The last option you have is to move to a warmer place. This decision may be rather dramatic for a simple heating bill since the costs of moving will be much greater.

However, if you hate the cold you may want to move to a place like Hawaii. In Hawaii, they do not use heaters as their temperatures usually are in the 70 degree range during the winter.

Hawaii is also very beautiful. If you are a fan of the desert, you may want to consider moving to a place like Arizona.

Arizona is not only very warm, but it looks warm. In the right location, you will never have to see or deal will snow or any of its side effects in the future.

There are many ways to lower your heating bill. There are many more tips and suggestions that can be found online as well.

Some electric heaters are more efficient than others. However, trying out some of the techniques will be worth the lower heating bill you will receive in the end.
