Data-rate matching feature assists the HP tape drive to alter its speed according to that of host’s data rate. The drive can adjust its speed in native mode ranging from 8 Mbps to 24 Mbps.
The backward capability of this HP drive includes the LTO-1 tapes. HP ultrium-448 drive can reliably store and retrieve data from the LTO1 data tapes as efficiently as it does with the LTO-2 backup tapes. HP offers more choice to its customers, as both SAS and SCSI models of HP LTO2 drives are available. By utilizing the SAS 3GB/s interface, the data administrators can connect the serial-attached SCSI based servers through SAS hot-bus adapter or SAS controller adapter. HP LTO-2 tape drives deliver excellent results with all the other non-HP servers such as Sun, IBM and Dell.
