People like organization. Imagine if your mail always ended up in a different neighborhood mailbox. Imagine if nobody drove within the lane lines on the road. How good does it feel when you sit down to work at a desk without clutter everywhere? You get the idea. Organization relieves stress, brings simplicity into our lives and allows us to do things more efficiently. If there is any place that should be properly organized it is your home. More specifically, your kitchen. How many times have you been in the kitchen cooking something wonderful, but have not been able to find a certain knife, platter, measuring cup, peeler or ingredient?
I think it has happened to all of us. When we move into a home, we organize the kitchen based on what we think is right, but it is after spending time in the kitchen that we realize we may have not situated everything in the most efficient manner. The kitchen is also the home to a million and a half gadgets and it seems that those gadgets multiply after every Christmas or Birthday. So where do all of those appliances, trinkets, tools and gadgets end up? All over the place.
You will find them on top of each other, shoved in random cupboards or drawers, tucked in dark corners or mysteriously missing. This can get frustrating. Have you felt this way? What should you do about it? Organize! Remember, proper organization will make your life easier and there is no time like the present to re-organize your kitchen.
Take a look at everything in your kitchen. Do you really need most of it? Go through and select the items that do not serve a regular purpose in your kitchen. Then, get rid of them! Sell them on eBay or simply donate them to a neighbor or friend. It may be hard to part with these objects, but honestly they were only taking up space.
You use certain tools much more than others. Put everything you frequently use, such as a spatula, in an easy-access location where you can quickly grab them. The dark corners and crevices of harder to reach kitchen space should only be reserved for the things you hardly ever use. Group everything by category and position them accordingly. This could mean, serving in one area, food preparation in another, pots and pans together and things to be stored somewhere else. This will make your life as a chef quite nicer.
