The bathroom is more than just a place to shower, it is the place where people normally get ready for a busy work day. Often people will spend time in front of a mirror grooming themselves amidst a sea of tools, lotions and colognes. This makes it difficult and time consuming if your bathroom is ill equipped to store all personal items, much less have room for towels. This is where double vanities come in. Double vanities are ideal for a married couple, or for a family with two or more kids. Instead of fighting over sink space all the time, installing a double bath vanity serves as a quick solution.

Adding double vanities to your master bathroom is a real treat. It gives both parties that regularly use the room their own personal space. It allows for a shared storage space that is easily organized and because each person has their own drawers and sink they can personalize their area as needed or to reflect their personal needs and style. While trying to decipherer our own styles there are certain measures required while installing double vanities.

The first thing you need to do is measure the space you have available. Small doubles are available as narrow as 48 to 50 inches wide. One of the ways that this is done effectively is by having just one row of stacked drawers down the middle instead of a single drawer on each side. The drawers are then also made slightly narrower at 14 inches across. This way the drawers are still useful and attractive, but they are managed in such a way that they do not add extra inches on each side of the vanity.

Once you know what will fit into your room, you can move on to the next step. Next you need to think about the colors and countertop styles that fit your personal style. Double vanities are available in many different finish colors and come in variety of countertop materials.

Once you have placed your order, the next step is installation. Work with the retailer and ask questions about how to install your new vanity. A good retailer will be willing to help you through the process. Most furniture style vanities will come pre drilled in the back for plumbing and on the countertop for the faucet, so follow the instructions closely and if the project becomes too much for you, be sure to hire a professional.
