Wood poles are almost everywhere. At first you may probably think that they are not important, but a second glance will reveal the many good things that can be brought by them. Just take a good look around and you will know how important they are. Check the streets and you will see that they are almost everywhere. They are used by electric companies to support the electric wires. And we all know that these wires are instrumental in delivering the electricity from the power source to the end consumers.

Aside from the electric and power generation companies, wood poles are also used by telephone companies. They are used to support the wires and the network of telephones and computers. Cable companies also rely on these poles since they support the wires that are used to transmit the cable signals. Simply put, there is still a growing demand for these wood poles because these resources are helpful on the ground. And it can be expected that the need for them can still be sustained for the next few years. Not all wood are primed to become poles that can be used for industrial use. There are certain types of wood that are often used, and there are processes that are made in order to ensure the durability and the effectiveness of these resources. A great number of these poles are often wood-treated. This means that the materials are often subjected to some chemicals and other preservatives so that they will weather away early decay and deterioration. Also there are a few trees that can be used in the making of these wood poles. This is because these are the ones that are proven for their durability and reliability. Some of these trees include the Douglas fir, the Jack pine and the Pacific Silver fir.

There are other trees that are used, and these are selected for their distinct characteristics. For example the Western Red Cedar is known for its ability to contain the challenges of the insects since is material is known for insecticidal properties. But most of the commercial poles that are used right now are made from Southern Yellow pine tree, and again this material is treated for durability. No matter what the material is, expect the reliability and the importance of these poles for a number of industries.
