When you need to stay warm in the winter you have to make sure that you are taking the time to stay warm without jacking up your energy bill. There are a lot of people that do not understand how easy it is to stay warm without turning on the central heat.

First, you should make sure that you know how to dress during the winter. You do not want to be wearing your big heavy jackets when you are inside because they are uncomfortable and often time they will be too exposed to the elements.

There are a lot of people that do not know how they should dress when they are inside but they do know how to dress when they are outside. Having layers on when you are inside is just as important as having them on when you are outside.

You should make sure to put on a long sleeve shirt first. This will ensure that the skin on your upper body and your arms is not exposed to the air that will, obviously, be colder than the temperature you want to reach.

When you are taking the time to put on a long sleeve shirt this may make all of the difference for you in your home. Some people need to have more than just a long sleeve shirt on to make sure they are able to stay warm.

A light jacket or a sweatshirt may make all of the difference for your temperature. If you keep a sweatshirt or a jacket hanging in your home you will be able to put it on over your long sleeve shirt when you start to get cold.

You can also make sure that you take the time to utilize blankets. When you are lounging in your living room or in your family room you may feel even colder because your body is stagnant while sitting.

Whether you are watching television, playing games or even just socializing you should have plenty of throws on your couch. Some people like to put their throws, or their blankets, in a decorative chest in their living room or family room.

When you are sitting you want to make sure that you have something to cover your body. There are many different types of blankets that you can find and often times you can find blankets that match your decor.

The more that you shop for blankets the easier it will become to have them in your home. Eventually you will find that you are able to pinpoint the blankets that you want in your home with ease while you are out shopping.

If you are going to have blankets out on your couch you want to make sure that they match but you should also make sure that they are able to do their job. Many decorative blankets will not keep you very warm.

Wearing socks will also make a big difference while you are in your home. There are a lot of people that do not understand how much of their body heat can be lost if they choose to not wear anything on their feet.

When you wear footwear you will be able to make sure that the heat your body is producing does not escape to the cold floor. If you have tile or wood in your home it will be very hard to keep your floors warm.

Another great way to make sure you are warm is to have a space heater. There are many different types of space heaters that you can buy and when you are shopping you want to make sure you find one that will fit your needs.

When you are shopping you should make sure that your space heater is going to be energy efficient. There are some space heaters that will suck up so much energy that they end up not being worth the purchase.

As you use your space heater you want to stay warm you also have to make sure that you are not compromising your safety. It is easy to compromise your safety when you forget about the machine and leave it on all day.

If you leave the heater on when you are not there you will take the risk of something catching on fire. There are many safety risks that can be associated with the machines if you are not careful and cautious about how you use it.

Understanding how to stay warm in the winter time can save you a lot of money in the long run.
