Children love a party and even in these cash squeezed times, it can still be an option. In fact, I would say do not even wait for an excuse such as a birthday to throw them a bit of a bash. The clocks have just gone back and the nights are even longer and drearier. Brighten them up with a bit of excitement and throw kids themed parties for any reason!

There are school holidays, Guy Fawkes night, Christmas, New Year and Valentines coming up which are all perfectly good excuses in my book to throw a themed party. Get online and source some handy props and costumes. You can even take a trip to second hand shops and adapt whatever you find to add to the theme and atmosphere.

If you do have a childs birthday in the midst of all this consider themeing it. Far from complicating things, kids themed parties can actually make the planning easier. You can hire entertainers that work within your chosen theme and you can easily source cheap accompaniments such as paper plates and cups, banner and table covers within your chosen theme.

Party bags that advertise your theme are also nice and easy. Your choice is buy the bags, buy all the little additions to put in it and then spend an age putting them together or simply buy the bag ready filled, add in a slice of birthday cake and away you go, hassle free. These bags are not expensive and make that aspect of seeing off the guests so much easier.

If you are stuck for a theme idea, consider your childs favourite things. Do they like Thomas the Tank Engine, Peppa Pig, pirates or princesses? There are all sorts of ideas once your brain starts whirring and its relatively easy to decorate your house to add to the atmosphere, it just takes a little imagination.

With a princess themed party you can easily pick up some voile or coloured netting and create a floaty almost romantic type atmosphere or gather together some unwanted timber and create some shipwreck style props for a pirate party.

To make the party fun for all involved, take some time to consider your party games. You cannot just leave children to their own devices unless you want chaos so organise them into some fun games. Get some medals and certificates as well as consolation sweets and prizes so that everyone feels like they have got something out of it.

If you are looking at a winter time party, a snow machine is also great fun and can add to the excitement and atmosphere. This fake snow quickly dissolves and leaves no mess or stain so you have nothing to worry about. Scenery and room decorations can also be hired for kids themed parties and are great fun.

Whatever theme you choose, there are lots of ways you can make your childrens party that extra bit special. Just involve yourself in a little careful planning ahead of time and you will have wonderfully surprised, happy and exhausted children at the end of it.
