There are some people who have been lucky enough to find jobs in this economy, however, many will have to make a long distance move to a new area for that employment. They will have to decide how to make that move with all their belongings intact. Some will pack for themselves and then rent a truck and drive to the new location. That way, when the belongings are picked up by the company, there will be less time spent on packing. There may be some things you can not do as an individual for yourself, because something is too heavy or cumbersome for one person or even a couple to manage to pack.
It is also important to find out a time frame when your belongings will arrive at your new location. Having an address for your new home before making these arrangements is crucial and will save money that would be spent for storage. That is why it is a much better idea to either buy a new house or condominium or at least a place that you can rent before you make the arrangements for your belongings to be moved for you. Various sizes of packing boxes can be obtained, along with the packing paper you will need to use to pack them.
Just remember to pack lightly and not crowd your china and crystal, if you have it, so that there is less of a chance of breakage. Packing lightly also ensures that none of the boxes will be too heavy to be picked up and moved, and that is important because you will have to move them to the location in the new house where you intend to unpack them. Make sure that you mark these boxes fragile, list the contents and put a this side up sign on each box.
When packing books, use the packing paper also and do not put too many in each box, for the same reasons. If you have rare books or expensive coffee table books that you treasure, make sure that you wrap each one separately before putting it in the box, and make sure that you wad up some of the packing paper in both the top and bottom of each box.
