Many people are planning to buy a new flat screen television now that they are quite a bit less expensive and the cable services have changed. To accompany that, they also need to decide how they want it displayed. Most houses have rooms that are square or nearly so, and if the room is positioned so that there is one wall to place the new television that is for the best viewing for most people at a time, then the answer is to install it on the wall with a wall mount of some kind. There are several kinds of mounts, some just mount the television flat against the wall and some allow the television to be turned just a bit for better viewing if that is what you want. Those mounts are also what you might need to use if you are installing a home theater system, but you would need a large room to do that, and many homes do not have one large enough unless they retool one in the basement just for a theater for family and friends to enjoy. Another consideration to consider is gaming on your new television. You will need to place it so that people wanting to use the games have room to move as some of then require some sort of movement.

Another good option is a television stand. Some are stationary and some have small wheels so that the television can be moved to a different place in the room, if the cable permits that. Most swivel so that you can just reposition the view toward a certain chair or couch and change that when you desire to move the furniture. The difference between the two options is that you can hang a television on a wall mount high enough for everyone to see at all times. The new televisions are nearly glare proof but it is desirable still to mount it so that it does not completely face large windows or sliding doors. Also, with a television stand, and if you have a cable connection on a covered patio, the new television could be moved outside for summer evening viewing in the cool of the night. In some areas of the country, this option could also be used all year around as it does not get as cold. So before you buy your new television, check out the options you will need to hold it in what ever room you decide to install it in. There really are many, and some are very nice and could fit in with furniture you already have.
