Add to that the Washington, Lincoln, World War II, Vietnam, Jefferson Memorials along with the Capital, White House and the Library of Congress and you could keep yourselves entertained for a week. And the best part is it is all free!
Traveling on from the East Coast (although you might want to head up to New York City) this country has much to offer. The great plains of Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and of course your home state of Texas offer broad expanse of flat land. The breadbasket of America. Before you get too far west you might want to venture a stop in Chicago. Home of the original gangs, Chicago has come along way since the early 1800's. With theater, professional basketball, football, baseball and soccer, shopping, a unique and beautiful skyline, the worlds best pizza and popcorn this is a stop worth making. The drive through the North East is stunning.
The west also has unique and matchless land formations. Yellowstone National Park, Bryce, Zion, Moab can't be found anywhere else in the world. If gas, time and energy allows continue on in your Austin RV to see the sights of California. Populated during the great gold rush of the 1800's, California is a destination worth the time and energy. With the crowds, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Sea World on the south to the stunning craggy ocean scenes in the North, California also is a weeklong destination.
From sea to shinning sea, if you haven't taken the time to see this amazing, spectacular country of ours, with the economic being what they are right now, this may be the time! You will come home surprised and proud of our homeland.
