Towards the end of the year 2010, the US newspaper which has a great reputation for its coverage of every kind of news that was worthy of being printed, and popularly known as the paper of record came out with a truly astounding public statement. Pink, we were informed, was back in fashion...pink was evident wherever you looked...pink was popular and had returned!
The paper discussed the fashion of 1950's and 1960's in detail when everyone, including the wealthiest and most influential people of the society preferred tint of rose for their home, and ultimately went ahead with this piece of spicy current affair. It continued and began recalling that with the coming of the 1970's was a decreased demand for items that were pink, as the customer began to prefer "more muted" colors and hues, saddening the manufacturers as this trend began to influence the purchases of crib sets for girls.
Right there on the very front page of the Sunday Styles Section, beside the picture of a gentleman clad in pink dress shirt, was finally the article. We were suddenly in the midst of stories of homeowners joining the fray redecorating, painting, and tiling their walls in hot pink. Shopping for pink toilet fixtures and pink patterned shower curtains was also in the fad.
While it focuses on lavatories, various people associated with the field of decorations and design have seen a new wave of interest in other areas of the home in the past few years, in particular within the bedrooms for newborns and smaller infants whose eyes are just beginning to be able to focus on the finery they're surrounded by in general and in particular the pink and brown crib sets.
If you ask any parent, when selecting the right motif for their daughter, you would be pressed to find anyone who didn't admit that pink was their original color of choice, only to be overlooked to "keep up with the Joneses". It was difficult to ignore the pinks, the reds, and floral prints too, but even these choices (it was thought) would lay the foundation for who and what your child would become.
