The many people who like attending Halloween or masquerade parties are also people who like to dress up in several different ways with costumes that can make them become a character for the evening. Many of these party goers sometimes choose a science fiction or action film character and one good idea for this event is the Robocop costume. If you are a creative type person, then here is a way to make your own Robocop costume.
This type of garment is very easy to make with the use of some things that you could find around your home, along with a few purchases for an item or two as well. You will want to use some card board boxes and if you do not have any around the house, then you can easily find many at your local grocery store or super market.
You can use the card board boxes so to create the helmet or head piece and also the torso part of this outfit. Be sure that the torso part is large enough so to fit both your chest and shoulders. Just carefully cut holes at the top portion of the boxes so you to fit your head easily through and also be sure to make holes for the limbs as well.
Choose a color of paint, such as silver or metallic, which will be more appropriate for this type of costume. Use a silver spray paint to provide your costume a metallic gleaming appearance. The Robocop character is known to have silver armor covering the upper torso with the crotch and stomach area painted with a black color.
To achieve this affect, make sure that you paint the upper part of the body with silver paint and then you will only need to paint the rest black. It is suggested that you also wear a black turtle neck sweater under the outfit, along with a black pair of pants.
For you to make the armor for the arms and legs you shall need to cut out a poster board so it will be in large strips and then you will need to roll them into the shapes of tubes, which shall be able to fit over the entire appendages.
Use some glue so to secure the tubes to shut or you can even tape them and then just attach them under the clothing you choose to wear. You shall then want to paint the outside of this poster board armor so it will coordinate with the rest of this suit. Also remember to wear only dark colored shoes or even boots along with your costume.
Now for the head piece you will want to be sure that it will fit very comfortably onto your head. Make sure that you cut out the right size for the area around the eyes. Then all that is left for you to do is to paint the box so it will coordinate with the rest of this Robocop costume. You can use a marker to draw in the rest of the details onto the area of the face. These small details sure can help to make this garment more authentic.
