A flahlight also known as torch is an electric powered light supply device. Normally, it has a small light source such as light bulb or light emitting diode mounted on a parabolic reflector and a clear lens to guard the light source. It is the most common and valuable house-hold item, whether, you want light during a power failure, hiking, outside at night, or to use during car repairing in a shadowy area.
The most familiar power source for these lights is the battery available in many sorts and is appropriate for these lights. The selection of battery depends on the requirement of source, size and shape of the light source. The solar power and mechanical power or a dynamo powered lights are also a useful source of power.
The normal glowing flashlights consist of a bulb and a tungsten filament. Filament provides glowing energy in field relating with its temperature. Recently, the LEDs have placed the usual light bulbs in most models as it is a high power light emitter with better power and long time of running. LEDs are not newer but mainly used before as small power indicator lights. Although most of these sorts of light are designed for hand-held uses, but there are some other types also such as head or helmet and battery powered lights for bicycles operated by dynamos or by solar power. A penlight, or pen flashlight, works with batteries. It contains a central lens to focus the light without reflector. A LED head lamp is also valuable equipment made for wearing on the head. It consists of the light at the front and a battery pack attached either at the front or back. Many other kinds of flash lights are available these days for their specific purposes such as; tube flashlight. These lights vary in length, weight, power and can be held in hand. In each type, you can acquire lights of diverse characteristics and powers. Some for example, run on lamp batteries and offer really powerful shaft of light, while others are exchangeable into lamps. Obviously, you may know well that one can go for the customary route for lighting such as candle, but it will not provide enough light and can be risky at times.
