Sony LIB-162/A3 tape library delivers reliable and highly cost-effective automated backup storage performance in today's demanding IT environments. The tape library supports AIT 3 tape version. Sony LIB-162/A3 library can be populated with 16 AIT-3 tape cartridges and up to two AIT 3 drives. Great news is that you won't require large space as it can easily be packaged in a 2U height.
LIB-162/A3 library offers 1.6 TB (native) and 4.16 TB (compressed) media storage capacity. A single AIT-3 tape can hold 100GB/260GB data. Best of all, you can write and read data from AIT-1 & AIT-2 tapes with AIT-3 drive. Sony AIT-3 cartridges are also available with WORM functionality. WORM (write once, read many) mechanism allows information to be recorded and added, but prevents modifications and over-writings. The library features a barcode reader that reliably scans the labels on backup tapes to ensure efficient data management.
The average cartridge access time is less than 14 seconds, which provides you complete confidence of in-time data availability. Sony has applied special diamond-like carbon coating to reduce the tape wear-and-tear. As a result, the archival life of Sony AIT-3 tape cartridge has been extended to 30 years.
