Have you ever written a love letter? If so, you must know how important the design and the way it was written contributes to its likability factor. This is also true with postcard design. You have to go beyond the intro, the body and your signature.

As much as possible, you want the recipient to feel like you have so much to say. You have to make the one who will be reading the letter that you think about them all the time. You are brimming with love and admiration for that person that after you have signed your name, you still have to include these two important letters, P.S.

The Postscript
PS is short for post scriptum or postscript. A Latin expression, post scriptum means after writing. This is composed of a sentence or paragraphs of thoughts that are added usually after the signature.

This allows the writer to fully explain what they are saying. This is their venue to list all the things that they might have forgotten to say in the body.

The postscript can have another purpose when it is used on your postcard design. It generates attention. It becomes the highlight. So as the advertiser, you can use this part to summarize your marketing lines.

When using postcards, you have to remember that fewer words will be easier to read. If you are going to add a postscript, make sure that your postcard is still good to look at. Imagine yourself as the recipient and look at the card to gauge if you will be interested to read through it all. If not, it won’t hurt to reword the ad until you hit the ideal design.

How can the postscript help in the overall appeal of your postcards? Here are some reasons.

1. If the recipient skipped some important parts on the body, this will remind them of that information.

2. It will attract the reader’s eyes. They might even end up reading just that part. So make sure that you have summarized your points concisely for it to be effective.

3. You can reiterate about your contact info on this part. Make sure that before your probable client drop the card, they were at least reminded of your name. It will be a plus point if they keep your card for future reference.

4. With the PS part included, your postcard is going to have a different appeal. The recipient would feel that you really have thought about them.

5. You can use this part to highlight the most important part of the message.

Your postcard must not leave the recipients’ hands without making the right impact. You will be investing money in order to produce those cards. So you better start off having the right elements in place.

The postscript can really add appeal to your overall postcard design. But your cards must still be equipped with the right elements that you can learn through books and manuals that can be found on the internet.
